For more than sixty years, the Greenfield Horticultural Association has helped people grow — better, and together. We are a member-led community of home gardeners, professional horticulturists, and plant lovers, united by the simple belief that gardeners learn fastest from one another.
Our story
Greenfield began in 1962, when a handful of garden clubs agreed to pool what they knew and share it more widely. What started as a few mimeographed growing notes passed between neighbors has grown into a national body with more than 8,400 members, 118 local groups, and a library of well over a thousand guides — but the founding idea has never changed.
What we do
We publish practical, trustworthy growing advice written by our own horticulturists. We send members the Greenfield Journal four times a year. We run workshops, courses, and our flagship Spring Plant Fair. We support 118 local chapters up and down the country. And through our Diploma and our members’ Seed Exchange, we help the next generation of growers find their feet.
How we are run
The Association is a not-for-profit, governed by a council of trustees elected by the membership and supported by a small staff team and a great many volunteers. Every membership and every donation goes back into our work: better guidance, more events, and a wider, greener, better-connected community of growers.
